Openwave® Profiling and Personalization System (OPPS)
Operators own a powerful but mostly untapped resource: knowledge about their subscribers and these subscribers' usage patterns. The Openwave Profiling and Personalization System (OPPS), leverages this knowledge for operators to create a 360-degree view of each subscriber. The result: a personalized experience across the operator's entire portfolio of data services and applications.
OPPS is a carrier-grade infrastructure solution that draws data from all the applications across an operator's network, powering these same applications with an enhanced subscriber experience. This end-to-end solution performs data collection from a number of sources; it gathers behavioral, demographic and subscriber-provided input and categorizes subscribers into segments called profiles. OPPS then creates a personalized experience for the subscriber, recommending services and content based on these profiles.
User Profiles
OPPS provides a consolidated profile for each subscriber across all networks, including the incorporation of subscription information for different services and associated historical usage information. Each subscriber may have several profiles based on time of day or week, location or other contextual parameters. The system even learns from itself; profiles continually evolve as subscriber usage changes. Profiles are even available so third parties can reach subscribers in meaningful ways.
Operator Value
OPPS counters declining voice revenue by attracting and retaining subscribers with personalized content and services at the subscriber's fingertips. It increases the adoption of new services by allowing applications to learn from each other, improving the overall user experience in each application. Finally, OPPS enables new business models from existing applications. Mobile advertising, mobile coupons, community- or location-based services all promise potential new revenue streams if they are relevant to the individual subscriber. OPPS ensures relevancy by simplifying the discovery of more personalized and actionable content and services.
